Denise Levertov spent most of her life as a poet after deciding to pursue the art form at the age of twelve. She sent a collection of her poetry to T.S. Elliot, who responded to the young girl with a letter of encouragement. Her poetry was frequently published in Black Mountain Review. Here and Now is her second published collection of poems, and the first to be published in the United States.

This edition has no printing notice to the rear cover, and the white wraparound label is a separate piece of paper pasted onto the green wrapper, indicating that this is a first edition.
