This genuine United States Mint proof set is not only a RARE & HISTORIC collectible that makes an fantastic gift for friends and family. 2008 US Mint 5-piece clad proof set in the original mint issued plastic holders and box. The set holder contains the five state quarters released in 2008: Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska and Hawaii. It housed in its original government holder and box with the certificate of authenticity. The coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint in a copper-nickel clad composition. These frosted United States Mint proof coins are extraordinarily brilliant, with sharp relief and a mirror-like background. Sculpted foregrounds give them a special cameo effect. Proof blanks are specially treated, polished and cleaned to ensure high quality strikes. The blanks are then fed into presses fitted with specially polished dies and struck at least twice to ensure sharp relief. The coins are then packaged in a protective lens to showcase and maintain their exceptional finish.
This coin set originally belonged to a coin collector who stored it in our safe for years. Eventually we acquired his collection in the condition he left it and other than sealing it in plastic it is sold as he left it - The plastic containers have never been opened.
