Clematis montana 'Mayleen' is een kleinbloemige bladverliezende klimplant met een krachtig opgaande groei. De bladeren zijn lancetvormig en gezaagd, eerst bronskleurig, later op het seizoen donkergroen. Deze bosrank bloeit in april en mei met kleine enkelvoudige lichtroze bloemen met goudgele meeldraden.

Deze plant is goed tot zeer goed winterhard, lokt vlinders en bijen en is geschikt voor muurbeplanting of pergola begroeiing. Plant je de 'Mayleen' in de grond, dan kan je volgend jaar genieten van een verdubbeling aan bloemen.

Verzorgen
Plant een Clematis langs een rek of schutting en help de nieuwe uitlopers door ze netjes langs het rek te binden of door de schutting te leiden. Je kunt de montana het beste in de zomer snoeien. Ze bloeien namelijk op oud hout, zoals takken van het jaar ervoor. In de zomer snoei je jouw Clematis dus eigenlijk in vorm voor de daaropvolgende lente.

Vergeet ook niet om dode of oude takken volledig te verwijderen. Een goede snoei zorgt voor een rijkere bloei in het voorjaar. Clematis montana 'Mayleen' houdt van een standplaats in de halfschaduw of volle zon en verlangt een neutrale tot kalkrijke, goed doorlaatbare grondsoort. Let er wel op dat de voet (onderkant) van je klimplant niet de gehele dag in de volle zon staat. Je kunt hem ook bedekken of iets dieper planten. De clematis is winterhard.

Omdat een Clematis een natuurproduct is met verschillende groei- en bloeistadia, is het niet mogelijk altijd exact de juiste stadia in afbeeldingen weer te geven. Let's just address the elephant in the room. My family says I am cheap, but I call it thrifty. Either way, I bought a couple of cork screws earlier that left like they would break at any moment when pushing down the arms, and after a few bottles, one arm did bend. So this time, i paid attention to the reviews and chose these cork screws as the review said they are solid quality. The review was correct. This design is pretty fool proof and easy for anyone to use. You do not need super human strength to pull the cork. Just remove the foil, screw the sharp coil into the cork until the arms have reached the top of their range, the place the bottle on a hard surface and push both arms down. Easy peasy. The bad openers I mentioned earlier did not have anything on the opener arms and the metal was thin. It did not provide a good feel. These cork screws have thicker arms and have a rubber grip on them which provides a much more comfortable operation. I would definitely recommend these cork screws for quality and value.
