Beschrijving

Deze tape werd eind jaren 70 ontwikkeld door de Japanse chiropractor Kenzo Kase en wordt nu gebruikt in de revalidatie- en sportgeneeskunde.

Werking

De elastische Temtex-tape wordt op en rond de spieren aangebracht om beweging te ondersteunen en spierrek te beperken, maar de volledige beweeglijkheid van het lichaam blijft behouden, het genezende effect van de tape wordt bereikt door beweging (bijv. Sport)

Wanneer een spier overbelast of teveel samengetrokken is, raakt hij ontstoken, opgezwollen en verhardt hij. Dit vernauwt de ruimte tussen de huid en de spieren, voorkomt dat de lymfevloeistof stroomt en de pijnreceptoren onder de huid rapporteren 'spierpijn'.

De Temtex tape wordt in verschillende vormen, meestal ongestrekt, aangebracht op de droge, vetvrije, haarloze huid over de optimaal uitgerekte pijnlijke spier, zodat er rimpels op de huid verschijnen als het lichaam ontspannen is.
