Het metrostation van Union Square moet één van de beste plekken zijn om de smeltkroes, die de stad New York nog steeds is, te ervaren.
Voorbij de toegangspoortjes speelt een jonge tiener Bach op een goedkope digitale piano. Even verderop, aangemoedigd door een uitzinnige menigte, tarten B-Boys uit de Bronx de zwaartekracht op pompende breakbeats die schallen uit een gettoblaster. Beneden op een van de perrons, drumt een man verwoed op plastic emmers. Een kaalgeslagen metalen prullenbak fungeert als hi-hat.
Een punker met een baritonsaxofoon vuurt vanuit één van de voetgangerstunnels ronkende acidriffs af op omstanders. Via een trap aan de andere zijde van de entreehal galmt een op een oosters strijkinstrument gespeelde weeklacht bedwelmend naar beneden. Dit alles wordt vergezeld door frequente, schelle aankondigingen en het gedonder en geratel van metrostellen.
Ik merk op dat ik de balans en het karakter van de verschillende geluidsbronnen kan beïnvloeden door mijzelf over het platform te verplaatsen. Geleidelijk smelt deze kakofonie in mijn hoofd samen tot één grote stadssymfonie die wordt opgevoerd door muzikanten uit alle hoeken en lagen van de stad.
Ik ben geraakt, omdat ik ‘mijn wezen’ gereflecteerd zie. Evenals een Metropool ben ik een kruispunt van culturen. Door mijn geschakeerde achtergrond is het mijn tweede natuur geworden om ogenschijnlijke tegenstrijdigheden met elkaar in harmonie te brengen.

Oh! 15 gold stars for this one! This book is so poignant and so very brave and authentic! This book is a permission for us to choose what we will and will not accept in our relationships. This book is more than hope, this book is determination! Pure driven determination to not settle, but to go to the mat to have our life the way we want we want it. I cannot over recommend this book. RATING : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ SPICE: 🔥🔥 Hot damn Hannah did it again .if you want to read more sapphic romance, this one will absolutely blow your mind! Bryce and Daisy were everything I wanted and more! Fake dating will always be the superior trope, but when it’s forced proximity grumpy x sunshine and the grumpy one is secretly head over heels for the sunshine one, well I’m a damn puddle on the floor! I still can’t decide if I loved Bryce or Daisy more, but I do. Know this might just be my favorite book Hannah has ever written. ☀️ Fake Dating ☀️ Grumpy x Sunshine ☀️ Forced Proximity / Roommates ☀️.Tattoo Artist / Teacher ☀️ So much pining I love Bryce so much. She is a total hard shell but she has such a gooey inside and she showed it so well with Daisy. This whole setup was fantastic, Daisy needs a place to stay so Bryce gets volunteered to give up her spare room. Daisy think Bryce doesn’t like her, but then you get to Bryce’s POV and you realize how down bad she has it for Daisy. Then Daisy proposes the fake date and OMG the tension. The longing. The secret tattoos. I loved every bit of these two figuring each other out. Watching Bryce absolutely melt for Daisy was just so so good. This may be a slow burn, but when it burns…. It’s an inferno. And the tattoo parlor scene is imbedded in my brain forever. Just everything about this made me happy and I will forever love Cherry Peak, these characters and this series! Now bring on Darren!

Daisy and Bryce are as opposites as can be, one is pure sunshine and the other is as icy as can be but they couldn’t be more perfect for each other!
I love the slow burn with all the sexual tension as they pretend to date while living together. Love the way they take care of each other, the love and admiration so evident in the way they touch and look at each other. Their nicknames for each other is just so cute and perfect! I love these two so much!
Such a great addition to the Cherry Peak series! We get more of Johnny, who happens to be Daisy’s twin and I just can’t get enough of him either, he’s just so fun. And of course we get to see more of the rest of gang. Love these found family and I can’t wait for more!
