In ‘Een ongewone geschiedenis van (doodgewone) dingen’ pleit Annegreet van Bergen voor een standbeeld voor de wasautomaat, de moeder aller huishoudelijke apparaten die als geen ander vrouwen vrije tijd gegeven heeft. Dit apparaat is slechts een van de vele ‘gewone dingen’ waarvan Van Bergen de geschiedenis onderzoekt. Daarvoor keek zij met verwondering en dankbaarheid om zich heen. Niet alleen naar brommers, koelkasten en stofzuigers, maar ook naar papier, suiker, veilig kraanwater en andere inmiddels heel gewone dingen die ons leven zoveel gemakkelijker en aangenamer hebben gemaakt dan dat van onze voorouders.

Holds a roll of towels as it should

Holds a roll of paper towels as I would expect. It’s not as sturdy as other paper towel holders I have owned, but I have it in our bar area so it does not get daily use. Because of that reason, I am OK with it. It was very easy to put together.

It’s Okay—Does the Job, But Not the Sturdiest

This paper towel holder is fine for what it is—it holds the roll and looks decent on the counter. It gets the job done, but it’s not the most sturdy. When I tear off a sheet, the whole thing sometimes moves or wobbles unless I hold it down. It’s affordable and works in a pinch, but if you’re looking for something solid and heavy-duty, this might not be the best pick.
