Девід Ллойд Джордж (1863—1945) — політичний діяч Великої Британії, член палати громад, прем'єр-міністр Британської імперії, лідер ліберальної партії. Син сільського вчителя, 'людина з народу', він досяг вершин політичної кар’єри, не маючи ані великих статків, ані зв’язків з аристократичним середовищем. Проте він досконало володів ораторським талантом, рішучістю, дотепністю й неабиякою кмітливістю. Діяльність Ллойда Джорджа під час Першої світової війни складає найяскравіший розділ його біографії. Він був єдиним державним діячем, який 'провів' цю війну від самого початку до її завершення.

Видавництво 'Фоліо' вперше публікує українською двотомник 'Воєнні мемуари' Ллойда Джорджа. Висновок, до якого приходить автор після п'ятирічної праці над виданням, звучить так: 'Війна надто дорогий і надто варварський метод вирішення суперечок між націями на Землі'. 

Другий том мемуарів, який містить спогади політика та свідчення інших осіб, присвячений його участі в розв’язанні воєнних проблем 1916 року. В грудні Ллойд  Джордж став прем'єр-міністром Великої Британії й, очоливши коаліційний уряд, узяв на себе цілковиту відповідальність за управління країною. Пізніше преса назвала його організатором Перемоги та національним лідером.
