Fitting and handling
Allow the boards to acclimatise inside the property for at least 24 hours before fixing, particularly in rooms with underfloor heating. Fix with a combination of grab adhesive and cut clasp nails or a nail gun, ensuring any external corners are mitred cleanly at 45 degrees. Once fitted, apply two coats of water-based or oil-based top coat paint directly over the factory primer, lightly sanding between coats for the best result.

Can white primed MDF skirting be used in bathrooms or kitchens?
MDF is suitable for rooms with moderate humidity provided it is fully sealed on all faces and edges before installation, including the back face and any cut ends. In high-moisture environments, ensure adequate ventilation and seal all cut surfaces with primer before fitting.
What sizes are available for this square edge MDF skirting and architrave?
This profile is available in four widths: 69mm (3 inch) at £8.85, 94mm (4 inch) at £12.00, 119mm (5 inch) at £14.52, and 144mm (6 inch) at £15.50. All lengths are 4.4m and all variants are supplied white primed.
Do I need to sand the primed surface before painting?
A light key with fine-grit sandpaper (180-220 grit) before applying your top coat will improve adhesion and give a smoother finish. The factory primer is stable and does not need stripping, just a light rub-down and a wipe-off before painting.
