Baseplate adheres to the skin (around the stoma) to which the pouch is attached to collect the drained stool or urine. Thin and flexible enough to adhere well to the skin, especially in the case of obese people and who have a lot of folds in their bodies. Notes: 1- The skin around the stoma must be healthy, clean and dry. Cleansing the skin with Saline and don't use soap or anti-septic. Don't attach the baseplate until the skin is dry. 2- The baseplate is changed every 5 days. The pouches are changed daily or when they are one third full. Open pouches are washed with water and soap and reused. 3- Pouches have a filter that is designed to reduce odor and gas buildup. They prevent leakage if they're well attached to the baseplate.
