Description

Making a Poem: Some Thoughts about Poetry and the People Who Write ItWe need poetry as we need love and company, according to Miller Williams. Making a Poem speaks to us all those of us trying to write a first poem, those who have published volumes of poetry, and anyone who cares how the world and language fit together. Distinguished as a poet, a teacher, a scholar, and a publisher, Williams traverses a wealth of topics. He explores poetic techniques of line break, rhythm and meter, and the development of verse forms.

We need poetry as we need love and company, according to Miller Williams. Making a Poem speaks to us all -- those of us trying to write a first poem, those who have published volumes of poetry, and anyone who cares how the world and language fit together. Distinguished as a poet, a teacher, a scholar, and a publisher, Williams traverses a wealth of topics. He explores poetic techniques of line break, rhythm and meter, and the development of verse forms. In our technological age, he makes clear that poetry is essential to the human soul, showing the connection between scientists and humanists. Williams draws from experience to describe the importance of teaching poetry to prisoners, the value of the university and the small press in fostering poetry, and the relationship between writer and editor. Making a Poem is an intimate, conversational treatise on poetry by a man of letters with decades of practice in both the business and the craft of verse. Readers will take away from this delightful book a deeper appreciation of the poet's art and the vital role poetry can play in their everyday lives.

Runs like a Rolex
Color: 5535-ZP-blue
What a watch!! A very nice watch. Everyone asks if it is a Rolex!! I say NO but it keeps me on time like a Timex. The band is wearing a little quickly but otherwise thumbs up!

Most important review for this watch and company.
Color: 5566-ZP-blue face, Color: 5566-ZP-blue face
I bought two and they both broke. Customer service has ignored my e-mail. What more do you need to know about a company? I personally wrote them through their own website, so they could keep Amazon out of it. It makes me angry that they won't even reply to my e-mail. I was nice. Both watches broke, neither one if actually water proof. The band is exceptionally thin and it WILL break on you once it arrives. It's so poor, that my body moisture is what got into the face of the watch. What the heck? I've had better 9 dollar watches from Walmart. Zero out of zero for the COMPANY who doesn't care about their customers, and zero out of ten for watch quality. Useless. I wasted 60-80 bucks on two of these! BOTH BROKE! and in more than one way!!!!! Terribly marked up (this is less than a 10 dollar Walmart watch - quality is LOWER than the lowest 3 dollar watches off Temu, Shien, Walmart), customer service is non-existent, and the band WILL BREAK on you. It's worthless. Take your money somewhere else. Attached pictures show the moisture leak from my sweat, but in real life, it's actually much worse. Worthless, not usable. Two of them folks. TWO!

A very nice looking inexpensive watch for work if you are in a job that you don't want to wear an expensive watch.

As Advertised
Color: 5535-HP-white
The watch is what I expected, and works upon receipt as advertised. At this price, if it only works for 4-6 months it's easily worth the money. Large, nice looking face, day/date. Wristband is what you'd expect, but adequate and comfortable.

Dies after a Year
Color: 5566-ZP-white face
Watch worked fine for about a year, then just stopped working - just like that. No amount of shaking or gentle impacts would get it to start ticking again. I'd also say my biggist issue with it was it was always difficult to tell which hand was the second hand and which hand was the minute hand since they're both the same color and thickness. Wish the hour and minute hands were a little thicker so they'd stand out a little better and/or that the minute hand was a different color so it was offset. Resulted in having to study the watch to get the time instead of a quick glimpse to see what time it was. Irritating after a while.
