Vinyl LP pressing. 2016 release, the fourth album from Thao & the Get Down Stay Down. It is another amazing sonic next step for the band following up on the success of We The Common (2013), which was largely inspired by Thao's volunteer work with the California Coalition for Women's Prisoners, A Man Alive is an evolution in both subject matter and sound. Thao says: "I wanted A Man Alive to be beat- and bass-driven-rather than guitar-based - expanding upon the hip-hop influences of the previous record. A Man Alive is more instrumental, more riff- and loop-centric, and has more manipulated sounds." The Get Down Stay Down are at their best on this record, and Thao herself experimented with programming beats for several tracks complementing the live drums played on every song.

Aww! Lesbian Hallmark movie in a book

Yes, its a lesbian hallmark movie in a book. And, yes, being that it's a "sweet" romance, there's no love-making. Sad. Normally I would forego the sweet romances but when these two authors come together it's always a good book. So I gave it a go. I have to say that I really didn't miss the love-making; it was really that good of a story. I'm surprised to say that. The characters were great but Grinchy Celeste holds a special place in my heart. And the way she and Natalie bicker I got the biggest kick out of. Truly enjoyed the book. Keep 'em coming TB and Miranda!

It will make you smile

Just an all around pleasant read. I enjoyed the interplay between the two main characters and watching their relationship evolve. There was never a doubt about where the story was headed, and that's ok. Happy endings are a good thing!

Fun, joy filled, quick read

This story brings together people who need to evaluate where they want to go in life and they are surprised to find that they don’t need to go far to find fulfillment, a great place to live, and a great person as a partner. This is a sweet, quick read to bring hope and joy in the holiday season as the two protagonists end up helping a whole town while finding themselves.
