This exquisitely prepared incense is offered in the tradition of the great tertön and visionary master Minling Terchen Gyurme Dorje (also known as Terdak Lingpa, 1646-1714), founder of Mindroling Monastery in 1676. Following his profound revelation of terma and the establishment of what became one of the great seats of the Nyingma tradition, this aromatic formulation arises from that lineage’s living legacy.

By offering more than 30 precious ingredients—including agarwood, sandalwood, and Tibetan caraway seeds—this incense evokes a woody-fresh, calming fragrance, specially suited to supporting restful sleep, soothing the busy mind, and returning one to a state of “cool wind” clarity. It is known as the Sage Peaceful Mind blend because it evokes the inner quality of tranquility and subtle wind-like clarity honored in Tibetan contemplative practice. 

At Mindroling, the crafting of sacred incense is deeply rooted. The monastery is one of the six “Mother” Nyingma monasteries, and its role in preserving termas (treasure-teachings), meditative practice, ritual arts, and herbal traditions is renowned.

• Agarwood (oud): A resinous heartwood known for its deep, grounding fragrance and ancient use in Buddhist ritual, meditation and medicine.

• Sandalwood: Valued for its calming and clarifying aroma, long associated with meditation, devotion and the transformation of desire into stable attention. 

• Tibetan caraway seeds: A Himalayan spice-herb prized in traditional formulations for its soothing, digestive and calming influences (especially on wind/“rlung” imbalances).

• Additional herbs, resins and aromatic woods (local Himalayan plants, binder-herbs etc) forming a harmonized recipe that supports relaxation, mental stillness and an atmosphere conducive to restful sleep.
