The Lost World of the Flood: Mythology, Theology, and the Deluge Debate"The flood continued forty days on the earth; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth . . . and the ark floated on the face of the waters" (Gen 6: 17 18 NRSV). "The flood continued forty days on the earth; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth . . . and the ark floated on the face of the waters" (Gen 6:17-18 NRSV). In our modern age the Genesis flood account has been probed and analyzed for answers to scientific, apologetic, and historical questions. It is a text that has called forth flood geology, fueled searches for remnants of the ark on Mount Ararat, and inspired a full-size replica of Noah's ark in a biblical theme park. Some claim that the very veracity of Scripture hinges on a particular reading of the flood narrative. But do we understand what we are reading? Longman and Walton urge us to hit the pause button and ask, what might the biblical author have been saying to his ancient audience? The answer to our quest to rediscover the biblical flood requires that we set aside our own cultural and interpretive assumptions and visit the distant world of the ancient Near East. Responsible interpretation calls for the patient examination of the text within its ancient context of language, literature, and thought structures. And as we return from that lost world to our own, we will need to ask whether geological science supports the notion of flood geology. The story of Noah and the flood will continue to invite questions and explorations. But to read Longman and Walton is put our feet on firmer interpretive ground. Without attempting to answer all of our questions, they lift the fog of modernity and allow the sunlight to reveal the true contours of the text. As with other books in the Lost World series, The Lost World of the Flood is an informative and enlightening journey toward a more responsible reading of a timeless biblical narrative.Binding Type: Paperback

Not quite indestructible, but closer than other toys
Size: Large 10", Style: Rubber Dog Toy
We have a German Shepherd who chews through pretty much any toy you give him. He has very strong, destructive jaws. And, being very smart, he will find the weak point in a toy and go after it almost obsessively. He'll work tirelessly trying to chew it into submission.
I don't know how many toys we've gone through. We even did the subscription where they send you indestructible toys every month. Usually, they wouldn't make it until the next shipment. Any of them. And they sent three or four in the box.
Anyway, this is our second one of these. He does destroy it, but he's had this one for three months or better and it's just now really showing signs of deterioration. We'll be replacing it soon, but I'm very impressed compared to the countless other toys we've bought over the years.

Toy Not Safe For Chewers
Size: Medium 8", Style: Rubber Dog Toy, Size: Medium 8", Style: Rubber Dog Toy
We bought this tire toy for our puppy for Christmas. It was advertised as a natural rubber dog toy and implied to be durable. It lasted less than two hours.
Our puppy was able to chew off small pieces of the rubber and swallowed some of the bits, which made her extremely sick. She ended up vomiting after ingesting pieces of this toy. I would not recommend this toy, it is not safe especially for dogs that like to chew.

Nice big tire toy
Size: Large 10", Style: Rubber Dog Toy
Our dog has had a tire toy about the same size as this one for 2 years, but it's finally been worn down from his love and zest for it along with weather. When I saw this one, I got excited! Great size for our 80lb 3yo pittie and pretty tough too, although, it's beginning to show signs of wear in only 3 weeks of him playing with it. It's not nearly as rugged as his old rubber tire. We'll have to see how long it actually lasts before I say the price was worth it or not.
