Crafted by a renowned artisanal distillery nestled in the heart of northwest Italy, these master distillers have been perfecting their spirits since 1890.
Berto is the most loveable line from one of our favourite spirit producers, Antica Distilleria Quaglia. A distillery huddled into the hills of Italy’s Piemonte region, its history spans four generations across which recipes have been passed since the 1890s. According to fourth generation Quaglia and current owner, ‘Berto’ represents an artist: unconventional, creative, inherently modern yet imbued with inspiration from the past. Inspired by the environment from which they harvest their primary ingredients, Quaglia’s Berto spirits are all natural, organic and produced to perfection for a modern audience – conscious, curious, creative. That’s a philosophy we’ll drink to.
The Vermouth Berto Rosso is deliciously reflective of the prestigious wines of the Piemonte region, loaded with aromatic herbs, exotic spices and an irresistible sweetness. It brims with flavours of mandarin, citrus peel, liquorice and white pepper, balancing comfort and zing in a bitter-sweet finish – a flawless friend to Berto’s London Dry Gin which incorporates classic juniper aromas with a lively selection of aromatic Mediterranean rosemary, iris, wormwood and bay. All that’s missing now is a bitter, and, boy, does Berto deliver. Production of the Berto Bitter commenced in the early 1900s and, reborn for the modern market, its artisanal authenticity and intense botanicals of gentian root, wormwood, Alpine daisy, sweet and bitter orange and cinnamon ensure its flawless revival.
Pour over ice and garnish with a wedge of orange then sit back, sip and settle into a journey no Negroni has taken you on before now.
