THE 2019 VIRGINIA MIGRATORY WATERFOWL CONSERVATION STAMP

The 2019 Virginia Migratory Waterfowl Conservation Stamp features a single Northern Shoveler Drake in a marsh setting.  The artwork, entitled “Spoonbill Drake” is the creation of Virginia artist Guy Crittenden, and is his seventh winning entry in the Virginia competition.  Northern Shovelers, often called “Spoonbills” by sportsmen, are small dabbling ducks that are found wintering in good numbers on marshes, ponds and impoundments throughout Virginia.  “In this painting, I intended to show some of the beautiful feathering of the Drake Spoonbill in a realistic and simple composition.  The contrast of the rusty red flanks, white breast and green head, combined with the oversized scoop bill, makes this bird an easily recognized species in the field.  They are fast and acrobatic flyers as well.

Great book to help establish a palette for a software, web or art project
Format: Paperback
I love this book for helping me establish a color palette for art projects that I want a Japanese feel to. Also just generally good for getting inspiration for color palettes that just plain look good. I've always, since I can remember from my youth, felt drawn to the Japanese color combinations in kimono. fashion, origami paper and even toys. Maybe it's a consequence of growing up in Hawaii with all the Japanese influences I had -- or, as I suspect, it's just really good color application. This book helps me find the colors I want that go together the way I want. I use the examples in this book with a Color Muse to pick my digital color palette.

Terrific content, soft cover.
Format: Paperback
It is way smaller than expected but it is amazing in content. The only think I do not like is that it has an extremely soft external cover, which worries me on the long run.

Useful and creative gift
Format: Paperback
I bought this for my friend since she has really been into sewing and dressing up in bolder outfit. When she saw the book, she told me she has been eyeing this and was really interested in the different color combinations. It is a small but unique book with so many different patterns and color combinations that can inspire people's lives with how they dress or decorate their living area.
