Installation Guide

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the engine cowling.
2. Shift the outboard into neutral and remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase).
3. Carefully separate the lower unit from the upper leg to expose the driveshaft and water pump.
4. Remove the bolts holding the water pump housing cover in place and slide it up the driveshaft.
5. Note the rotational direction of the existing impeller vanes before sliding it off the driveshaft.
6. Clean the interior of the pump housing and the wear plate, removing any old gasket material or mineral deposits.
7. Install the new gaskets and wear plate provided in the kit.
8. Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft. While pushing down, turn the driveshaft clockwise to help flex the vanes into the correct orientation inside the housing.
9. Reinstall the water pump housing and tighten the bolts to the torque specified in your service manual.
10. Apply a light coating of marine grease to the drive shaft splines and reinstall the lower unit.
11. Reconnect the battery, start the engine using a water supply (flushing muffs), and confirm a steady stream of water from the tell-tale port.
12. Check for any water leaks around the water pump housing.
