Locke-Ober (c. 1875–2012) was the fourth-oldest restaurant in Boston, Massachusetts, after the Union Oyster House (1826), Durgin-Park (1827), and the Jacob Wirth Restaurant (1868). Locke-Ober featured French cuisine and seafood.

History
The Greek Revival building was constructed in 1832. By 1862, the Boston City Directory listed Adrien Destre as operating a restaurant at 2 Winter Place. By 1868, F.A. Blanc was listed as running the restaurant. By 1879, Boston city records listed Luis Ober as the proprietor of a restaurant at 2 Winter Place of "over twenty years' standing". From the start, the restaurant specialized in French food and was central to the financial, political, and intellectual history of Boston.

Louis Ober was born in 1837 in the French department of Alsace. At age fourteen Ober moved to New York, working as a barber, book seller and importing and exporting goods between the United States and France. Ober lived and worked in New Jersey, Cincinnati, and Philadelphia, before settling in Boston. Ober was employed at the restaurant then owned and operated by Blanc. While in Blanc's employ, Ober became familiar with French food, fine wine and furnishings. By 1875, Ober had acquired ownership and applied to the city for expansion of the restaurant to 3-4 Winter Place. Financing was provided by Eben Jordan, a co-founder of the Jordan Marsh Company. The restaurant reopened as Ober's Restaurant Parisien.

Over the next 20 years the restaurant was expanded and became furnished with increasingly luxurious imported materials typical of the Gilded Age, including Honduran mahogany, French furniture, Italian and French sculpture and paintings, English silver and Bohemian crystal lighting. Until 1970 the restaurant was open to males only.

By the late twentieth century, Locke-Ober - though still possessing most of its original grand trappings - had lost much of its popularity. Boston restaurateur Lydia Shire, with investor Paul Licari, leased the space in 2001 and began a painstaking restoration of the main and private dining rooms on the third floor, adding two more contemporary rooms. Jacky Robert was executive chef until 2003. Nonetheless, the restaurant closed in 2012, with reports that the owners planned to sell the building.

The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. The location is now occupied by Yvonne's.

The restaurant was the setting of the opening scene in Robert B. Parker's 1980 Spenser novel Looking for Rachel Wallace. It was also the setting of the denouement of Death in a Tenured Position (also published as A Death in the Faculty) by Amanda Cross published in 1981. The detective, Kate Fansler, is taken there by the lawyer, John Cunningham, at which she presents to him her solution to the mystery. Cunningham claims Fansler only likes the restaurant because it used not to admit women; she denies this, saying she is attracted by the creamed spinach and the waiters who tended to be 'deaf and placating'. It was also the restaurant that Professor Lambeau took Robin Williams' character, Sean, to in an attempt to convince him to work with the main protagonist in Good Will Hunting.

Decent Slim Fit Tux
Color: Midnight Black, Size: Large
This will work. In ordering the tux I don't recall seeing the set advertised as slim fit but it definitely is. My husband is 6'2" and 185 lbs. and is a runner. This suit just fits. The pants are thankfully long enough (he wears a 34/34) and the vest fits well however there doesn't seem to be an inch to spare in the jacket. He says it feels fine on, doesn't feel too snug, so that's all that matters. He needed a tux for a black tie wedding we'll be attending next month and this will fit the bill at a good price for something he'll likely never wear again. Note: the Suit comes folded up in a plastic bag and will need to be pressed before wearing.

I'm going to be fair on this one
Color: Black, Size: XX-Large
TLDR; Ordered one (XL), too tight. Then ordered a size up (XXL), it was ok-ish but the sewing was horrible. Ended it up returning both and I still give them 4 stars (because this review is fair) So to my review: I wanted to like this suit. It had great reviews and it is, in all honesty, not that expensive. When I ordered the first suit (XL) I noticed that the fabric was super cheap but somewhat passable. The jacket did not close at all but the pants fit and they were surprisingly decent-ish. It is a slim fit suit so take it from there... the pants were tight in the leg BUT I did welcome A LOT the fact that comes with an elastic waist so it is pretty adjustable. THAT right there is probably one of my favorite things about this suit. I was on the fence of liking this suit so I thought maybe if I tried a bigger size it would made a difference. So then I ordered an XXL and arrived the next day, great. Tried it and the jacket now fit but the pants were not the best fit of all... don't get me wrong, the elastic waist worked great and it was helpful but I definitely needed a belt for this one. Regardless, upon inspection of the new jacket I noticed that the one side was uneven. In the back, there is a separation between both sides, joined by a thin thread that joins both flaps together. You could tell that one side was longer than the other. I was upset but gave it some thought because this is what happens when you buy these type of things online, you are bound to find some items that may or may not work for you. By the way, it comes with a nice vest (waaaaay too tight regardless the size) and a bowtie, which, in my opinion, just don't bother with this one guys Truth be told, you can get a suit from a brand name retailer (on sale) for about $150- $200 that you might not encounter those QC issues but you might not have the same features as this one. Unfortunately, I don't have the time hoping the next one will be perfect. It has it place in your life. If this is for a kid, prom, maybe a cheap wedding that you have to attend, it has its place given the price and features, but if you are going to use it for a gala event please don't, you will NOT look great.... that is why, even though I had to return both, I still gave it 4 stars and I will be buying a tux separates. More expensive, yes but it will also compliment my look completely. It won't be a one use only. Hope this helps P.S: Shipping has LOTS to be desired!! it comes in THE plastic bag that the suit comes folded in, nothing to protect it from the elements when its delivered, not even a shipping bag!!!. For that alone they will get a 1 Star (but that is on Amazon)
